In a 15th-century house tucked down an alley of old Bayeux, a couple has run this table since 2009: Norman produce, fish from the coast, attentive service across two small rooms of about thirty covers.

Worth knowing: The dairy’s own ice creams are seasonal, available from April onwards.

The Isigny Sainte-Mère cooperative makes AOP butter and cream renowned far beyond Normandy, and its ice cream made with Isigny milk is best tasted at the source: the dairy’s shop is open Monday to Saturday (10 am-1 pm and 2-7 pm).

Churned butter, 40% crème fraîche, AOP Camembert de Normandie, Label Rouge mimolette, plus the neighbouring Isigny caramels: everything for the perfect post-beach treat.

Our house tip — Pair it with the D-Day trail: Isigny is fifteen minutes from Pointe du Hoc, and an Isigny caramel ice cream is fair reward for kids who walked all day.
